Thanks for all the invaluable advice and giving me reasons to part with my hard-earned cash
Merry Christmas y'all!0 -
Thanks for all the lively debate, I may have my own opinion on a lot of things, but would like to think we all respect each other in that. I have learned a lot from others points of view and have had a few of my positions changed and influenced by what I have read on here. Dilema, Porgy and Spen666 come to mind.
Great advice from all, and it influenced my purchase of the Tricross, a superb bike, special thanks to the Dark Lord, Kieran Burns on that one.
Good humoured topics, some great laughs and threads. DDD desrves a special mention here. ITBoffin, and others have also made me laugh....
Many thanks to Chris in Bicester for the SC stats, love it, and will hopefully be getting well involved in 2010.
To all others, you have made it what it is. Merry Xmas."Encyclopaedia is a fetish for very small bicycles"0 -

Thanks to everyone for all the online entertainment and information, and encouragement to spend money. Also for the two meet-ups I managed - though these seemed to involve much more beer than cycling

Bah humbug! Only because I'm at work til lunchtime
Glad to have come across this site and meeting up with some of you despite the teasing, abuse and suchlike targetted at my (lack of) height, non-roadbike acquisitions and a love of jacket potato, cheese and baked beans (cheese first!)
Looking forward to more socials and less abuse next year. Please? :P0 -
Cheese first? What's wrong with you woman?! :P
Thanks all, it's been another fun year, I'm hoping to do more cycling in 2010.0 -
Arrived wanting to know more of an accident on the racetrack and found some funny, witty and generally rather nice people. So I stayed - much to your consternation

Have a good one folks - special thanks to Mr Burns, Cori and Big Wib who tolerated my lack of speed and fitness - see you next year on something a bit faster guys 8)
Thanks to eveyone else for encouragement, patience in answering questions and support in my first year back on a bike

Thank you all for the fun reading and interacting online.
That and the great christmas party even with the mesmirising river to watch out of the window (and the lady changing the bicycle tyre whilst being critiqued by half the room).
I second the "more cycling in 2010". Lets all aim for the higher levels of miles under the tyres. No reason other then just plain lets do it"This area left purposefully blank"

Huge thanks to IT Boffin for coming up with the top idea of the Silly Commuting Stats, which gave a home to Who's Done The Most Miles. It evolved into what is now, the Stats web page that I implemented during a spare couple of evenings back in May and which is now in its first big revamp to cope with its unexpected longevity - i.e. more than a couple of months running into the summer. I never expected it to roll into a new year.
Thanks go to all of you who keep using it. I didn't quite expect it to die a death, more likely that a dozen or so would keep adding miles for a while and then quietly move on. It never happened. Nearly 100 people have signed up to it; most of you keep coming back to add more miles at any opportunity.
Thanks finally then to CJCP who's organised some kind of whip round on my behalf for me keeping the stats pages working, and to all of you out there who chucked your contributions into the bucket. It's hugely appreciated on my behalf, so thanks indeed to all who use it, and to all who contributed. I now have to work out what Wiggle can provide with the proceeds.
Thanks everyone.
A PS - I won't be around until Friday, so feel free to post glowing tributes, offers of more money, or heartfelt personal abuse if you so wish. I won't see any of it until next year though. Don't take a lack of response on my part as anything other than me not being near a computer until the new year. Thanks again. Happy New Year to everyone.

Actually - and all joking apart: the last year for me personally was one of the worst I have ever had to suffer.
My closest friends kept me safe, and it is no exaggeration to say that cycling kept me sane.
All of you on the forum kept me cycling, taught me many things, and allowed me to meet some truly wonderful folk. I've been inspired, infuriated, intruiged and interested in equal measure.
Reading your posts has fired my interest in cycling and on the worst days kept me on the saddle. I'm now ready for a new Year, in a new place of my own and now only 10.5 miles from my new place of work. Once I get back from my week away for New Year, I'll be trying the new routes and I'm **really** looking forward to the choice of ways in.
So, to all of you: Thank You.Chunky Cyclists need your love too! :-)
