Been off work for a few weeks now since being hit whilst cycling home from work last month. Initially whiplash, but also knee problems.

doctor tells me now I have a medial meniscal tear in left knee and it will require an operation. Signed me off work for another 4 weeks, and referred me to a consultant orthapaedic surgeon.

I'm told it will take about a month to get an appointment wwith surgeon. not sure how long after that until operation, but then another six weeks after that before i can ride my bike again.

Happy Christmas indeed

That sucks, Spen. Sorry to hear that. Hope it heals up fast.

(I hadn't realised you'd be knocked off. Glad it wasn't worse.)

Cheers for that. Why do you think I have been on here so much of late. Off work, pretty much housebound and bored silly.

I initially thought it was not bad. It is getting worse by the week.

Agood reason not to settle a claim quickly. If you had asked me after the accident what injuries I had, I would have said none, but it is coming out over time.

Best wishes spen. Take some comfort that it's not really worth being out there atm anyway.

Besides all the christmas specials are on Nick Jr today, too bad I'm at work, Dora kicks ass.

Sorry to hear that Spen, I hadn't realised you'd been knocked off.

Hope your knee gets sorted soon, and you're back on the bike in the new year. Does this mean you've got an excuse to be waited on hand and foot over Christmas
pain is temporary, the glory of beating your mates to the top of the hill lasts forever.....................

  • Oh my God, what a horrible situation! Hope you get better soon.

Look at the bright side: in 6-8 weeks time, hopefully all this ice will be gone and the days will be much longer!
  • Ouch, that sounds more like a footballer's injury than a cyclist's. Side-impact? Anyhow, I hope the operation goes smoothly and you make a speedy recovery. Meanwhile, don't eat too many mince pies.

Sorry to hear that spen, maybe talk to the legal team at CTC about the accident etc as they may be able to help.

In the meantime why not watch a cycling slideshow here

  • bad news & get well soon, but on the bright side at least they've got to it before you get back on a bike and do more damage.

good point about the compo as well, it soon gets spent ater a bad un. hold out for far more than you think you'll need, I've spent mine many times over and still pay out to keep myself well after a big crash.
  • Ouch, not what you want over Christmas. Hope you get sorted soon!

Rest it up (from your blog it sounds like you haven't had much choice) and fingers crossed you'll be back in action sooner rather than later.
