i've got a pair or the xero xr-1's and a pair of the model b's and i'm about 80kg. i've found that the model b's are much stiffer than the xero xr-1's in out of the saddle riding and in stiffness
hope it helps0 -
has anyone had any experience of halo mercurys? found them on here for £238...

They strike me as being very similar to the Xero's - a deep rim but the hubs look a bit small and I have to wonder; why don't I see them on people's bikes even amongst the hundreds that turn up at sportives? Maybe because they suffer from the same flexing problems as other wheel in this category, at this price point.
That said, I'm sure the rims would make a great starting point for a handbuilt wheel, if laced to Record hubs and some good spokes e.g. Sapim or DT Swiss.0 -
Xero are good as are planet x... Ive been looking for ages with the same budget, ive had xero and planet x before but this time im getting a set of halo mercury wheels (in white)
Theres a review on bikeradar.. Havent seen anything as light for under £250.0 -
But wasn't that before the BikeRadar reviews got more critical and in-depth? Nearly all the wheels reviewed pre-2009 have done very well!
Anyone care to back up the claims that the likes of the Xero's and Halo Mercury wheels really are stiff and aerodynamic? Or are these wheels really cheap for a good reason?0 -
These from www.wheelsmith.co.uk would make a good choice

Ive ridden pairs of £400-£500 eastons and mavics and i would say xero and planet x model b are pretty much equal to these.
The only time ive noticed a real difference is on deep carbon rims, some of the more expensive look better but performance wise there's not much in it...
I went to planet x wheels because my old madone has bontrager race lite and they kept coming lose and buckling.. I wasnt disappointed..
I decided to go with halo because ive had nothing but good experiences with the smaller companys like Halo, charge and planet x.. In my experience they make really cool different products that do the job well.0
