Turkey soaking

I was thinking about doing the Turkey in the big tub of water with all the stuff ala Nigella lawson this year. has anyone tried this and has it made any difference ?

Actually, don't know why I'm asking I'll be smashed by then, drink and cook at the same time is always deadly. :wink:
