As my Christmas present to self I am buying a clear rain jacket, best race fit is going to be the assos climajet i don't really mind paying the £140 but wonder is there a cheaper alternative ? Anyone got a decent race rain jacket that will allow me to spend the savings on other cycling treats ?

I have the Climajet vest but I also have the Northwave jacket - which is a little bit more heavy duty. The problem with the Assos is accessing your jersey back pockets because it's very snug - bit of a bind in race situations
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

I paid £60 for a Montane rain jacket three years ago, it's nice and light and folds easily into even the smallest pockets. Don't know what it's like for getting out on the move though, I wouldn't even dare to try putting it on while riding none-handed.......but then I don't do road races.

Even if the prices have gone up you should still save some money over the Assos.

Castelli do this in a transparent, looks very good value but not tried one myself...
