FSA Cranksets

Hi people.

Very quick question

Do FSA cranksets work on Campag setups or are they for Shimano only. or - is there a way of identifying what they will work with or not?

Would it be a case of removing my campag crankset and bb and replacing with an FSA crankset and FSA BB that would then work with a campag front and rear mech?

Sorry for what might seem a 'begineers' but I have no idea.

Cheers,

Dru.

I have two gossamer chainset chainsets running with Record/Chorus/Centaur/Veloce drivetrains.

    Works fine.

And that's all on one bike!

    Thanks RD.

If the crankset comes with an intergrated BB then does this mean it will automatically fit my frame, or is there still an 'italien' or 'english' question that needs answering..... or is a 'hole' a 'hole'

    Best Regards,

    Justin.

BB threading depends on the frame - generally only Italian-built frames come with Italian threads these days - many Italian'branded' frames in fact come from the far east and have BS threads
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

    Nearly.

On my Ribble I have Chorus, Centaur, Veloce and Race components. Just Record and Centaur on my P-X.

So for a boardman frameset (ie non-italian) thats running campag I would be able to get any FSA crankset with BB and all will run together fine?

An FSAsquare taper crankset will not fit correctly on a Campag BB as the Crankset is a JIS fitting and the BB is an ISO fitting, meaning that the Crank will go 3.4mm further onto the Crank and may clash with the frame and put the chain alignment out. This year i bought an FSA Crankset and had to replace my Campag BB with a Shimano BB in order to get the correct alignment. The system works perfectly well with my Campag front and rear mech.

Considering this crankset for the Boardman.

Comes with BB and 170mm crank arms
I've only got little legs (29") therefore would this be a significant improvement to my current Campag Centaur 39x53 Chainring 172.5mm crank arms?

    Cheers,

    Dru.

For your Boardman, the FSA SLK cranks will be fine - like me for your 'little legs' you might also consider a 165mm crank, but they are harder to come by.

Hoping that the 170mm will be ok - also - there is the fact that its only £130 rather than £300.

I'd say it would not be a significant improvement or an improvement in any way #unless# you want to try shorter cranks.

I am running a K Force light and have just switched from Dura ace to Record 11.I actually think that the Campag runs smoother and quieter (if there's such a word!) than the Shimano.
