    Your post reminds me that in September last, I attended a bicycle auction in Essex where, amongst many ancient delights, was this bamboo bicycle, complete with bamboo handlebars and wooden rimmed wheels. I forget its vintage - 100 + years ? - but it was certainly a venerable old thing.
