It's easier to build a lump and then start rolling that. Then when it's big enough just fill in the hollow parts and shave off the bumpy parts. Epic snowmen have graced my garden over the years because of this technique.0

I tried to make a snowman down here in the South West. But there is no snow.
Damn that Global Warming!0 -
Its the temperature its laid at. Sometimes it partially melts on the ground and is not really true soft snow. Its like trying to pack icecubes together.0

the government's PC snowman building 101
Firstly, pack to a snow ball then roll and roll until its in a big ball. Slice the sides off so he dosn't look obese. repeat with a smaller ball and attach to the top of the first. Recycle/steal two buttons from an old coat. (coal is bad for the environment) and an 'organic' fair trade carrot. attach to the head and add your grandad's hat and scarf.

If the snow's too cold, it won't stick together.
With the temperarures being well below freezing, it's more than likely that's the case.Remember that you are an Englishman and thus have won first prize in the lottery of life.0 -

if you have enough snow it's your duty as a big kid to satisfy your inner child and build a snowman!http://twitter.com/mgalex

It's also your duty to throw snowballs at passing cyclists. (Unless you already have that spotty lad in class 3b already in sight)0 -
Remember health and safety, keep knees bent, back straight, push with your arms. If the snowman is over 6 ft remember to get planning permission as it's going to block your neighbours views. I would hate to see you charged with building an unsafe snowman.
