Anyone else had problems with them?

get back from a ride, hang bike on wall, might not get used for 3 or 4 weeks, get it down to go for a spin and the brakes are binding. to the point where if i spin the wheel by hand it might only do one revolutuon. only had them for less than a year.

any advise please?

  • Have you tried not hanging it up? Serious question.
  • Built the bike. of course the hoses had to be cut to length. had that done at a reputable bike shop and bled them.
they have bled them twice since I had the bike as they said they would need doing after the first time.
riden the bike about a dozen times. and only just lately they have been ok when i finish with the bike and hang it up ( horizotal from the frame ) but like I said, if i dont use it for a few weeks and get it down to ride the brakes are binding! I dont understand it. Just does not make sense.

I think I will send a message to CRC where I got them from to see if they have any ideas.

and let us know if it did any good.
  • Hi, I did do that when I fitted them, mind I did it again and the rear is a bit better, didn't do nothing for the front so I pushed the pistons back a little the centralized it again, seens ok for the mo but will soon see, this has happend about 3 times now.

so far much more impressed with my Hopes on the Orange.

    sounds like a poor bleed.

they should have made sure the pistons were full home before bleeding of this can happen.

Are you using the bike in wet or muddy conditions?

Before you hang your bike up, do you clean your bike or a least dry it off and lubricate.

After you cleaned your bike try spraying brake cleaner on to the pistons.

They may well have semi sized!!! You will need to clean and carefully push the pistons back.

Also inspect the disc pads after each use. If they are worn the piston will be fully out and may not return
