Give em some stick while messing around...0

go fast, then jam them on, stoping as hard as you dare without going over the bars, do this at least 10 times, maybe 20, get them really hot basicly, you should feel them get significantly more pwerful as you bed them in.I like bikes and stuff0

I find this odd, surely if you get the disc red hot you run the risk of warping it? I know there are differences but with a car you do the complete opposite and bed them in slowly otherwise you can warp the discs and overheat the pads so they harden and don't give a good braking efficiency, is it not the same principle? Pads, discs and calipers? Why different on a bike to a car? Don't get me wrong i just wondered why the bedding in process is different....0

Mountain bike discs dont run nearly as hot as car discs. I cant remember exact figures but a car's brakes can run at anything upto 400'c under heavy use with mountain bikes only running about half of that (still pretty hot though!). Steel won't become significantly softer at 200'c and is unlikely to warp - i guess the higher temperatures involved in car brakes necessitates different bedding in.Lapierre Spicy 516 XTR custom (2013) -http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=129323320

As stated do 10-15 hard stops(dry) without locking the wheels to heat up the pads/rotor to get them to "bed" together,i've trashed a set of pads in 16 wet/gritty miles that haven't been bedded in
Speaking of temps,my rotors regularly blue with heat.Once in the Yorkshire Dales they went yellowy/brown(strawing?)which indicates they hit around 350-400degs and they didn't warp 8)0 -

I've had brake rotors smoking before so that's pretty damm hot.
Bedding in is good0 -

Haven't really come across colour changes but mine have smelled a wee bit.0 -

and the brakes are what?"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

All good advice but letting the brakes cool in between stops is important.0
