After various recommendations, I bought myself a pair of DMR V8 pedals - good price and great reputation.
they arrived yesterday - look brill, bit heavier than I expected, but nice all the same.
Except...
As you do, I span the pedals on their spindles. Ewww, that's not very nice - a very rough, grinding kind of feel to them. Admitedly, I've not greaed them via the grease ports yet, but surely a brand new product with brand new bearing shouldn't feel this nasty?
Of course, my view could be completely chage once I grease them, but I'm getting paranoid and thinking that they're full of swarf or something...

Mine were exactly the same when I bought them, but I bunged them on anyway and went for a ride - came back and hey presto! smooth running pedals. Haven't touched them since, the little syringe is still in my tool chest and the pedals are still smooth as.

got some dmr v8 's , do the job but have needed re-greasing several times since buying
    them in the summer.
    getting noisy again now.
wish i'd bought gusset slim jims with sealed bearings instead.

Mine were exactly the same, so I pulled them apart and repacked them with grease, and it didn't make a blind bit of difference, so I stuck them on and just used them.
They are fine, quiet and spin nicely now. Don't worry about it, they are very nice pedals, just make sure they are adjusted so they have no free play.

Presumably this is done by popping off the rubber cover on the outside of the pedal and tightening up against the bearings?
Not fitted them yet but will do so after I've greased / tightening bearings after today's canal tow path ride...
