I am getting new tyres at christmas and was wondering if i need to get new tubes. My current tyres are Rubena charbydis sport 2.0 and i am getting a maxxis ardent 2.25 and a specialized captain 2.2 rear. Would my current tubes be big enough? If i need to get new tubes, are there any better quality or value than this? http://www.evanscycles.com/products/con ... RRWidgetID

  • yes they will be fine, as long as the rim holes can accommodate schrader valves
  • i prefer schwalbe tubes, as they have lockrings and removable cores.

Your current tubes will probably also be fine, though heavy...

I found they punctured really easily with thorns but what doesn't? (apart from self sealers which I now use) but really nicely made with screwdown valves, Remember to talc/chalk the new tyres and tubes.

Why are MTB economics; spend twice as much as you intended, but only half as much as you wish you could afford?

    Thanks for your advice
captainfly, do you mean in between the tyre and the tube? I haven't heard that you should do this before

Yeah a bit of talc in the tyre between it and the tube stops them binding and twisting. so makes fitting easier and improves general perfomance.
