I seem to remember that it was both very brief and sorted fairly conclusively.

Be careful with a post like that as it strays dangerously into libelous areas.

    Why?
Carlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos

How do you make that out then? It's a question not a statement, you can't have a libellous question!!!

    Libel.
is the communication of a statement that makes a claim, expressly stated or implied to be factual, that may give an individual, business, product, group, government or nation a negative image.

Without wishing to be pedantic, I think it would be possibly to libel someone by asking a deliberately misleading statement.

I don't think that is the case here though

I remember seeing a number of those related to various online retailers (I recall Wiggle getting picked on a few times). I have purchased a lot from CRC, Wiggle and others and have never had a problem - never used Ribble TBH.

    Dave,

You are usually very pro Ribble, has something happened to raise your suspision? Should add the feeling I got from the posts was (without knowing really) that it would have been coincidental to the purchases and not the retailers / staff being fraudulent... only my speculation though. On-line retailers have to be so careful.

tbh if you are using a credit card , don't you have limited liability?

  • I was a regular, loyal Ribble customer since 1985. However I'm not using them again until they get paypal in place, as I have had my cards compromised three times uncannily soon after making a purchase from them. This is no proof, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

  • The common link is we all ride bikes so tend to shop online, so the first suspicion is that it must be a bike shop we used recently. Cash machines, petrol stations, key loggers or even the card company are more likely sources of the fraud, since most retailers have stringent security measures in place.

There was a few peeps on an american forum last year that all had credit card frauds after they used PBK and Ribble...

Can't prove owt though, could be just coincidence.

I'm fascinated with this idea of using PayPal...

Why do you think PayPal is secure ?

If you pay PayPal, your card is debited immediately, whether the company has the goods in stock or not. If you pay by card, normally the merchant only debits on despatch of the goods.

If you pay PayPal, you have no section 75 comeback, i.e. can't dispute the transaction with your credit card company and get your money back if you don't get the goods, etc.
And having read the issues people have had going through PayPal's dispute resolution...
