Is there any point in purchasing one of these for mainly XC Riding?

something like a neoguard or a bender fender would probably be more discrete and work almost as well.

I am going to fit my new bender fender later tonight. I'll pop a couple of pics up if you want to see what they look like.

Just fitted my bender fender, some pics (remember, my clearance up front is pretty tight with my new rubber). Hope this helps. I'll be giving it a proper test in the morning.
