Which bike for my OH - £300 to spend?

Hi,
I want to buy a bike for my OH for Xmas, I have about £300 to spend give or take £50, we've been to Evans and some shops in Warrington and she likes the Scott Contessa bikes the best, Specialized weren't right for her.
Is this the best option? Or should I try and get her a used bike? Are the Apollo/Carerra range at Halfords any good?
I doubt we'll be doing any serious offroading, just light trails and parks!
Thanks a lot for any help.

Thanks, I'll have a look
She can't use mens frames, she got sized up at Evans and the best for her seems to be Scott, but we can look in Halfords as well!
How much would it cost to take to an LBS to make sure it's set up right?0 -
Apollo from Halfords? No.You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.0 -
Thanks, The Carerra has great reviews here, I'm going to get her a go on one
Thanks!0 -
