Ooh actually me and the wife did a quiz on sporcle.com I think it was the best songs of the decade there was some class on there. Some dross too though and it was all fairly mainstream.

    2. Cherry Ghosts - Mathematics
    3. Coldplay - Talk

That was a stream of consciousness, wasn't it?

    Just sharing the wealth :?

Sporcle is great. Although now my wife knows all the countries of the world and their flags, I worry about what has gone to make way for it.

Best single of the year for me, by a country mile:

    Deadmau5 - I remember.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NzcXj40PCmY

    Nothing remotely comes close.

Edit: just noticed it said 'of the decade', as opposed to of the year...

    Oh dear.
Note: the above post is an opinion and not fact. It might be a lie.
  • Its amazing that when I try and think of songs from the last decade my mind goes blank and I get slightly confused when songs were released and whetehr or not I acyually liked them that much!
    FCN 8 mainly
    FCN 4 sometimes
  • Songs of the decade? Hmmm, there's a whole decade to choose from... tricky...

    Hmmmm.

I'd have to say 'Dancing in the Moonlight' by Toploader, an old one from 2000 that still makes me smile.

Another 'oldie', the JXL remix of 'A little less conversation' - no.1 in over 20 countries in 2002, and stil no.1 in 2003 when I was in Australia driving around listening to it on a cassette in my grandfather's 1970's BMW convertible getting sunburnt.

And Wire to Wire by Razorlight.

None of these are typical songs that I generally like, but they're all songs that make me stop and listen. And then put them on again.

Can it really have been 10 years?

Yeah - I think it probably is THE best song of the decade. I mean kind of objectively, trying to look beyond my personal favourites IYKWIM

I pity any pedantics who wander by this thread now.
They will feel compelled to point out that not only was 2000 not in this decade, it wasn't even in this millenium, let alone century. They will so want to add smugly that there is a whole year left in this decade yet.

Then they will realise that actually a decade is just any 10 year period and the OP didn't say "of the noughties" or anything to define the decade and their heads will explode.

Just how many times did Toploader re-release that song anyway? They might have had X number of hit songs, but if it was just always the same song doesn't that still make them a 1-hit wonder?

I had an ex text me last saturday saying she had just heard Last Night and thought of me. that made me smile.

    anyway mine are sort of

    The Killers - Mr Brightside

Daft Punk - One More Time

    Girls Aloud - Biology

The noun is 'pedant', 'pedantic' is an adjective. I'm not sure 'pedantics' is a word.... :P

See I counted 2000 as the zero year - which, if you go back to the theoretical start of the modern calendar is in fact incorrect, as they'd never have had a 'year zero', they'd have started with 'year one'. But I played along with 'song of the decade' and suspended my disbelief.

    Some people.

Wow, that's pretty close to mine. Had "Hey Ya" and "The Modern Age" as my first two, hadn't come up with a third yet. Arctic Monkeys good, as is Daft Punk One More Time, Killers' Mr Brightside. Too many to mention really, have lost track of what was released this decade, loads of album tracks I could plunder...

Yesh but I never said I was such a person, so I don't need to worry about how to spell it properly :P
