All in good time.I have recently aquired what I think is a Chater Lea frame set,so it will be going on that.Well I have ID the frame by its drop out and lugs which are Chater Lea but :? it could be something else.bagpuss0

Sounds good.
I've never seen any mention of how well the 2 speed fixeds work so I was just wondering there, if they are good or bad.Bikes, saddles and stuff

I'm not totally surprised the 2 speed fixed is attracting that sort of money. If I'm correct they were made in the 1930's, so if in very good condition they would be a nice rare find.
The later 3 speed fixed (ASC) was 1950's, even these with the correct control lever can fetch good money. I've got one in a Russ frame (hub is dated June 1950). Rides well. The small amount of backlash isn't an issue once you are used to it.Recipe: shave legs sparingly, rub in embrocation and drizzle with freshly squeezed baby oil.0
