Eastern North America's Most Popular Stage Race!
As Ontario’s answer to the popularity of mountain bike stage races, Crank the Shield is a 3-day cycling odyssey through Ontario, Canada's stunning Canadian Shield country. Riders “crank” their way through wild singletrack, alongside stunning vistas, lakes and exposed rock, and eventually to the finish. Along the way, riders aren’t ushered into cramped tents, as summer camps complete with mess halls, cabin lodging and beautiful, swim-able lakes await you at day’s end. Food has been described as the best at any stage race, with all-you-can-eat buffets including everything imaginable to keep you fueled up for 3 long days in the saddle. Along the way, you’ll find incredibly well marked trails, friendly, helpful aid and marshal stations, and a top-notch safety staff. If you’re gonna crank, why not Crank the Shield?
235 km over 3 days sound too hard? – try the Short Course!
Chico Racing has the answer – shorter courses for all 3 days! Crank The Shield's shorter option, with distances ranging between 50 to 60 km per day, is still a tough ride but puts Crank within range for the average rider.
