Is it weight, smoothness, durability, fancy packaging (!), feel good factor..?

I'm happy to buy the more expensive one if there is some real benefit. Actually I need two - one for my niceish summer road bike (Ultegra) and the other for an older touring bike.

AFAIK just the finish

for a few quid I'd get the shiny X9. Which I have. I run them on the commuter and the mtb. Good chains.
