I think Wiggle is the only place you can get them in the UK.

I have one - and they are worth the money. Not only do they work, but they look good too!

If you can get a Deda Dog Fang to fit your seat tube, they are cheaper and work just as well.

I have a Dog Fang on my winter bike (Bianchi Al) and a K-Edge on my summer bike (Ribble Sportive Carbon). The BB junction on the Ribble meant that a Dog Fang sat 5mm too high.

There is no technical basis for this comment but of the two I prefer the Dog Fang as its cheaper and, to me, looks more descrete. I am asssuming both work as I have not shed a chain using either.

Your chain repeatedly dropping off the inside generally means setup up of the front mech is poor.

They shouldn't really be necessary, and they shouldn't be used to prevent the chain falling because of poor mech setup.

I run Deda Dog Fangs on my bikes, just in case though.

I fit them as I am a serial double shifter (increasing chance of a mis-mesh but normally OK) and for those one off occasions when you shift just as you hit a bump. As Red says good Front Mech set up comes first, chain catcher used only as a safety net.

This. As we all know, what can go wrong, at some time, will go wrong.

I'm waiting for the Chinese copy of the chaincatcher - $40 for a piece of machined alloy is ridiculous. I use a Dogfang on my cross bike too.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

I like the look of the K-Edge and at £26, in red anodise, I don't want discrete!!:wink:

I'm interested in one of these, just a bit confused about front mech compatibility (running 2008 Centaur QS).
I have a Deda Fang on my Allez and had one on my original Izoard. However, the replacement Wilier has larger tube diameters and the even the largest Fang won't fit.

If your mech is a braze on (with or without adaptor) you can use a K-edge thingy.

K-Edge now also make a chain catcher for those who have a clmap-on front mech. Costs even MORE.

It has the clamp built in so it straps directly around your seat tube and sits below your front mech. Available in both tube sizes:
