Good effort. I'm sure you'll be reminding him of that once or twice tomorrow...

Are there many hills on the hoonfest route? I've got a 53:39, 11:23 set up at the moment!!

Loving the new ride by the way Rich. Pleased with it?
You'll be alright on the hoonfest route with 53/39:11/23 Dave - there's only one hill to speak of (aside from Box), and I'll be at the back going up that anyway!

New Bike is bloody marvellous, even with the winter wheels on! I reckon it's the best looking bike I've built, and for once in my life there's nothing that needs changing (although it might get some carbon bars for Christmas... ). Ta for the compliment! 8)

Still undecided about tomorrow.....with rain forecast for tonight and then temperatures to drop by the morning again, there could be a lot of ice about.

Oh, and yes, I made a rookie error racing today...wasn't paying attention to the number of laps to go so was left very confused when everyone started sprinting up towards the finish as I was certain we had another lap.....how wrong I was!

    Wow! *blushes*

Just checked out Bike Porn - nice! Might have to use it as a Brain Fart Kahuna Tingle resource! 8)

If there's snow I'm out too. Has to be said I feel a bit worse for wear having been so cold today too... but I really want to ride... :?

Well, I need to ride! So unless the world is white I'll be lapping the park or heading out if anyone is about...

If it hasn't snowed and as long as I can find enough warm kit I'll be there... No sign of me by 9:10am and you can safely assume I'll be a no-show

I'll try to update this by 8am with my intentions

Just to update you, decided not to go out tomorrow, too much risk of ice/falling off and dying.....plus feeling quite shitty from todays cold....hope you enjoy yourselves those who are out and stay safe.

Having nearly just slipped and broken my neck on the way to the shed it's a no show from me as well

I'm going to take advantage of the veggie wife being away by having a full English

a lunchtime pootle round the park is the order of the day. If the motivation returns...

Have a good ride if you make it out and stay safe
  • sorry to whoever made it / waited - was on my way to park and hit something that slashed my tire - fixed the puncture to get home but tire not ridable.

changing tire now then gonna head out in a bit if anyone else fancies a meet up later?

  • was considering an afternoon ride, but after having quite a bit of fun sliding my car down the road, there is no way I'm keen to try that on 2 wheels. So have a safe ride if you went/go out. Will just have to watch the cricket instead :D
  • went out again - roads out to the park were ok - perimeter road of park was ok - roads through the middle were blankets of ice. 1st 20 yards or so had been salted and then it was like a skating rink. both wheels slipping and sliding all over the place. stayed upright for about 2 seconds and then slid for about 10 feet. it was so slippy there was no force on impact just kept on going forward clipped into the bike, just on my side

no way any unsalted roads would be ridable.

    cyclocross anybody?

VinceEagar: thanks for the report . Having spoken to two roadies at a Cafe on Fulham Rd at about noon I was preparing for a light lunch and pootle but yr comments persuade me of the merits of staying indoors.

Managed six laps of the park (3 CW, 3 ACW) and apart from the boredom and the wind, it was actually very pleasant. The roads were in decent nick and there were a lot of people out.

The back roads to the park are a mess though, so glad we didn't venture out into the Lanes...

Shame we didn't get that last pre-Christmas ride in, but hey ho.
I've been just as bad - pretty sure my last one was a CCC run, and I think the last one of them was August or September?

New year we'll be back on it - regular steady rides will be my bread and butter through Jan & Feb... I hope!

Seems like the Surrey Hill rides will have to wait for warmer weather...

I did go out on the bike today, but on my commuter to have a look at the CX at Herne Hill, even in London there is plenty of ice to slide around... I can only imagine out there...

Managed a few laps of RP. Not that bad but a couple of slippy moments. Still better than going on the turbo again though...

My area is very hit and miss. Some nice clear sections then sheet ice on sections that would catch you out

No way am i riding in this. We need a warm spell to melt all the ice away and then evaporate the left over water.

Just going to use this as an excuse to drink lots and indulge in food i normally can't touch

Roll on January :D (not often we say that)

Have a bloody good xmas/holiday season guys and see you all in 2010 8) .
