A bit OT...
anyone know what's happening with the shop at the end of Strand Rd?
It's been boarded up for a good few months now.
Is it due to re-open, or are they just going with the warehouse at Walton Summit?0 -
am i missing something here? what new ribble site? looks exactly the same to me and the bike builder is no different to usual?0
-
I find I can't login any more - it doesn't recognise my email address. This despite me setting up a stock reminder to that same email address only on Sunday.
Anyone else found this?0 -

I asked one of the staff at the warehouse while I was there the other day. There's no immediate plans to re-open the shop in the near future, but they still hold the lease on the property.
I guess they're seeing how they get on with the warehouse only, and whether the loss in income from the shop outweighs its running costs. I can't blame them, as any shop is expensive to run (staff costs, rates, insurance, loss through theft) etc., but it would be a shame if it didn't return.Cycling weakly0 -

I had this as well. Even more anoying I had to change my password as there is a (new) limit on characters one less than my old one. Just one more think to clutter an already cluttered mind!Coach H. (Dont ask me for training advice - 'It's not about the bike')0 -

I'm not impressed by this 'upgrade'.
My email address isn't being recognised either and I don't see any significant difference in the site other than a colour change. Of more concern to me though from a security point of view is what has happened to my previous personal details ie address, email, etc and where is that now stored or is it deleted? I wish they had emailed me re. the changes, what to expect and allay concerns I now have.0 -
When changes are made to websites there are always going to be teething problems.
Dont panic!
As for the changes made, yes it's had a face lift but there were probably loads of back end changes you know nothing about ie one of them is Bike builder now works in FF0 -

Glad it wasn't just me, I called them to see what the craic was and apparently the password problem is now sorted. Works for me now anyway.
It looks similar to the last site they had but I do think this one looks better laid out, the bikes look great now with pictures too.0 -
Great I can see the groupsets now using FireFox.
Now just need to decided between Campag Chorus or Athena ..............0 -
chorus go splash out0

Just went to log into the new website and it doesn't work for me. I thought I was in the clear, as I received an email from them on 22 December, but apparently "Your email address was not found in our database."
Grrrrrr0 -
Phoned Ribble today to ask about my login, and the conversation went something like this:
Me: "I'm phoning about my account - the website no longer recognises my username and password, and my email address is apparently no longer on your database."
Ribble: "Oh yes, this happened a while ago. You'll have to re-register if you want to buy anything".
Me: "I'd really rather not create a new account, as I was hoping my old one would still work."
Ribble: "You'll have to re-register"
Me: "So you're telling me you've lost my account details?"
Ribble: "No, we haven't lost your account details, you'll just have to re-register."
Me: "But when I try to log in, your website tells me that I'm not on your database, i.e. the database no longer recognises me because my details aren't there."
Ribble: <long empty silence> You have to re-register.
Me: "I've been a customer for over five years and have spent thousands of pounds. Maybe I'll just take my business elsewhere. Thanks for your help"
Ribble: "Okay" <hangs up>
Historically, I've had very few problems with Ribble, and found their service and prices to be pretty good, but the guy on the other end of the line didn't make any effort to understand my query or help out. The threat to take my business elsewhere didn't register at all, and he hung up about a millisecond after his last word. I wasn't rude, either, in case you're wondering.
Is it just me, or does anyone else think this is pi55 poor service?
And yes, I probably will limp back to their door and re-register, because they're better (IMO) than CRC, etc. But it still annoys the hell out of me! :evil:0 -
I too have had to re-register after being a regular customer. I have never tried to ring Ribble as I know what they are like.
Don't expect too much except good pricing.0 -
Actually I think it's just you. While I understand that it's annoying to have to jump through all the loops again I imagine that Ribble pay another company to administrate their site and from the point of view of security I'd much prefer that they require everyone to re-register when they change site suppliers rather than shunting around a big file of personal details and passwords.
Also, maybe I just don't get it but surely signing up isn't that much effort at all. Should take less time than the rant above0 -

Personally I would have just re-registered and saved the long conversation..;-)0
