OK new shiny iphone has turned up today. once i get it home and hooked up to ituens to get it running... What apps to get?

1) im after for a free sports tracker to plan routes and follow on the bike. I would like to beable to keep track of times and see my progress as i go.
2) something for my finances to see howmuch im spending.
3) anyothers that you think are great and could not live with out.

finaly im also after a great case for my phone so i can stick it in my jersy pocket and not worrie that the malt loaf may kill my new phone.
Any help would be great and finaly i did search for this and after 3 pagers on the search pager for iphone drawing a blank i though it would be worth a punt.

    1) Motion X GPS
    2) Don't know, sorry
    3) Crikey. Google Earth, Brushes, Stanza, Radiobox, Mill Colour, Camerabag, Canabalt, Ocarina. Look that lot up to get you started. Enjoy!

thanks will get browsing. getting a feeling that the number of apps is abit too much to get started with so trimming it down to a few tried and tested will help.

yep thats what i was asking for arsy comments.... got nothing nice to say and all that.

This is Cakestop, don't you know by now you will get the mick taken at any opportunity ?
Also, the small wink at the end means its jovial, no malice intended.
For what its worth, I am ignorant of iphone and app's. Not keen on mobile takeover, I have a pay as you go billy-basic phone which hardly gets used, just don't fancy living my life on the phone/texting, think its really de-socialising..

Have a nice time with your phone,

    PS, note the winks..............

It's fine anyway, the iPhone's predicted text is actually quite good

Be careful of using the iPhone on your bike with GPS running. It doesn't take long for the GPS to eat into your battery life, leaving you unable to make a phone call that one time that you end up having 3 punctures and need to make the call of shame to get picked up.

Apps I like and use.... TV Guide, Wikipanion, Eurosport news, Sky sports scorecentre, AppBox Pro (1 app containing a load of other apps that most people have seperately), The TrainLine, Tube Deluxe, Wifi Trak, Last.fm, Wunderadio, Shazam, News UK lite, Showtimes (cinema times).

    +1

The battery life is cr@p, they're bulky in your pocket and easily damageable. Better with a £5 quid brick on pay as you trot

De-activate the web browsing, mail pushing etc, use it as a phone and the battery lasts for days.
Switch them back on if you want the facilities and can charge regularly. The £5 brick can't do that

Frequently used apps:- Flixster, itrainLive, CoPilot, The Weather Channel, Radiobox, Sky News & Football. Oh, and Jamie Oliver

For a bag to protect from the malt loaf? A cheapo ziplock and in the back pocket, simples!
Actually, I prefer to use the saddle bag instead of a pocket in case of an off.
None of the above should be taken seriously, and certainly not personally.

    Get a silicone rubber case.

Look for an app called Trails, author is someone Lamoureux, icon is a pawprint. THere is also Everytrail.

You can load .gpx files into Trails, which I've done and it works well. Eats the battery tho...

    Will think of some others....
