Don't do drink-driving. IMHO, it should be a lifetime ban for offenders caught drink-driving.

My thoughts are - if you were stupid, and selfish enough to risk innocent lives drink driving, you don't deserve to drive.

Sorry to anyone who has been convicted of drink driving, but I have ZERO sympathy. We all make mistakes (myslef more than most, if I'm honest.... :oops: ) but it's how I feel.

I fear I may have de-railed the thread, or about to get flamed, lol.

bigchazrocks I couldn't agree more. If I'm driving, I'll not touch a drop, not even a half. Just dont see the point in it.

I feel the same and have a shandy if I am driving. But if I am honest I would bet I have been over the limit in the morning :oops:

Cat With No Tail - same. I'll have absolutely ZERO alcohol before driving, and if I've had a heavy night out (and it's maybe once a year) I'll wait at least untill the day after the 'morning-after'. I HATE drink-drivers. And hate is a pretty strong word...

Good advert - I think some people still dirnk and drive as they have the same mentality as those who text and drive - that nothing bad will happen to them.

Drink Drive awareness training should be made a compulsary part of the driving test......there are waaayy to many old wives tails attached to drinking and driving which can mislead a lot of young drivers!!

Don't touch a drop of Alcohol if i'm driving, its hard enough riding a motorbike without a drink. Driving while on a mobile phone should be an instant ban also.

A good mate used to work for TRRL and their research (not sure if it was published or not) showed that it is not the use of a mobile phone that is the problem - it is the phone conversation itself.

It makes little difference if you are on hands-free or have the phone jammed under your ear, in terms of distraction and reduction in road-awareness.

The dynamics of a phone conversation are entirely different to having a conversation with someone in the car next to you. The phone call lacks the natural breaks and pauses that occur naturally in cars as passengers respond to the road around them and the behaviour of the driver. For example, you might get asked to recall the last six months sales figures as you approach a tricky junction on the M6 whilst on hands-free but this does not happen with a person to person conversation. Passengers naturally spot the driver is already at max concentration and wait until the right time to continue the conversation.

So I say ban all phone calls in cars, hands free or not. For consistency we'd also probably need to ban police, taxi, and lorry drivers from talking on the radio as well. :?
