With a choice of the current Veloce groupset or the 2008 version, any differences or advantages in one over the other(apart from being able to get 2008 slightly cheaper)?
Cheers

It's up to you whether or not it's worth it, it would be for me.
Cheers, yea i'll be going for the better version, not much difference in price anyway. Was just wanting to make sure newer version would be better, because i'd read elsewhere that Campag might have been downgrading Veloce gradually since doing away with Mirage etc0 -
I'd heard similar - some of 2009 Centaur is basically rebadged 2008 Veloce, Veloce to Mirage etc. The introduction of Athena 11 seems to fit with the theory that Centaur / Veloce have been partly downgraded from 2008 to 2009.
The new Veloce shifters are definitely a step up though.0 -
Reddraggon summed it up nicely - I have the current Veloce on my winter bike and it has really impressed me, much smoother gear shifts than I had expected and a real improvement when shifting up to the larger chain ring.
I don't think you'd be dissapointed.0 -

Are you comparing to older Veloce you had when you say: "a real improvement when shifting up to the larger chain ring."?
So would I be right in saying that '08 veloce may have slightly better components, but you would lose the good stuff about Campag like multiple shifts and better trim on the front? Or is it a fallacy that the current Veloce components are worse than they were?0 -
I think it is a partial fallacy... The finish of current Veloce is a lot like the finish Mirage used to have, and the price has come down to an almost Mirage level. But most of the Mirage parts were pretty much the same as Centaur and Veloce anyway. It's still that way. Veloce should work as well as Centaur and be very close to Chorus/Record/Etc. That's one of the reasons I like Campag.0

I've got the 2008 Veloce and love it. got it for £300 so didn't really expect it to be great but I've found no major problems with it so far. Shifting is nice and smooth and the hoods are really well designed, much better than the old shimano ones i used to have!0

my 2008 mirage does multiple shifts up so i'd imagine veloce did.0

Haha, none of this is making deciding any easier!
Can get '08 for £270, and '09 for £324. Really don't wanna be spending more for less!0 -

To smaller sprockets, 2008 Xenon/Mirage/Veloce/Centaur did not
Your mirage is probably older if it does.
ok, down then When i push the lever, multiple. When I push the button, one at a time.
Never saw it as a hinderance tbh.0
