I'm looking to get some paniers for my father in law as a Christmas present.
They are to go on a mountain bike and are really going to be used for a 10 minute ride to town for a bit of food shopping rather than commuting or touring. So they don't deed to be super waterproof as if it was p***ing down he'd just stay at home.
Finally, i'd like them to be good value for money. He already has a panier rack and doesn't want ones that turn in racksacks.

Thanks very much

  • Carradice Shopper. Perfect for shoppying (unsurprisingly!), very well made, and the hood design is such that you can really stuff it.

Thanks - but unless i'm mistaken that comes as one single rather than a pair. Father wants a pair is is nicely balanced up as he toddles back to the shop.I know i could be get two but that's pushing the price up. Anything similar in terms of ease of use and size - but as a pair?

Can't go wrong with a pair of ortleib panniers, unless by "value for money" you actually mean "cheap", Ortliebs are pricy but last and last, cheap panniers just aren't as good VFM (for the most part).

Avenir do a "cheap" dual pannier for about £35

I guess by value for money i do mean cheap - but hopefully not so cheap that break before New Year.
I'm guessing around 36litres with not too many fiddly pockets is good for the shop is looking at Altura Arran or Agu Ventura. They look similar on the net - anyone used them?
