Go to bikley.com...tere should be a few suggested routes...most common one will start from Clapham Common ( L2B start )

However unless you want to ride down the A23.I dont know how you can avoid Ditchling Beacon on the left or other similar steep hills on the right of the A23. You have to get over the North Downs somehow

Without taking a massive detour, you will have to cross the South Downs somehow. In addition to the obvious climb of Ditchling Beacon, you could opt for Devils Dyke (easier than DB) which takes you into brighton via Hove, or take a longer trip via Lewes and you can cross the Downs near Falmer (by Sussex Uni). That's an easy climb, but a bit of a detour.
  • thanks a lot - found a route on a site called 'map my ride' and rode down last friday -

the downs were a pull on my 48-15 fix but with a bit of a run up dooable. ditchling beacon on the other hand was pure knee wrenching torture so i gave up (pretty early on) and walked. made another thread about it too :D

  • there is a cycle path that is actually seperate from the A23 that will avoid Ditchling, it starts at about Hickstead, and is tarmac
