BB upgrade - advice needed please

haven't seen anything else on this but would really be grateful for some advice as i am a bit of a novice .
ihave a giant anthem 2 (07) and have had it for about 20 months. Ive decided to upgrade as and when things go wrong.
My BB is really noisy and my pedalling is not smooth. I was on a trail recently and at one point it was went really stiff
and then improved enough for me to get round but was still noisy.
anyway, any recommended upgrades? and what benefits will i get form upgrading versus replacing with similar?

20 months is good going, I'd get another.0

I'd stick an XT in it personally, can't go wrong at £28, seem to be better than the RF ones.Uncompromising extremist0
