Hello, looking at some Deda Newton bars for winter bike and just comparing the anatomic, shallow and deep versions. Looking at the measurements, what exactly is the 'reach' measurement in reference to handlebars?

It'S just the measurement from the stem clamp area i.e 'the tops' to the shifters, i.e 'the hoods'.

    You sure?

    Because according to http://www.dedaelementi.com/En/Products ... Master=359

The reach there is listed as 83.5mm. Got those bars on one of my bikes, and there is no way that the 'reach' from stem clamp to hoods is only 8.35cm

    Anybody care to elaborate?

8.35cm sounds about right to me.

Stem clamp area to level with hoods (not physically to hoods)

Ah right, so following along the same line as the stem, not perpendicular to it?

As above, the reach is measured with the bottom flat section of the drops horizontal.
Not with the top of the bars horizontal.
This gives a lower measurement for the reach than you would see with the bars in the normal riding position :?

Says that image is broken redddraggon :S

Well, another question, from the three different versions of Deda Newton http://www.dedaelementi.com/En/Products ... Master=365

Which would be your preference and why?

When I had a set of Newton's on my last bike, I opted for the shallow versions. This was purely because I was suffering with a bad back at the time and they gave me a slightly taller position on the drops.

It depends entirely on whet you personally find comfortable - I think the anatomical versions look more modern but that's just my preference.

Newton Shallow, I just get on with the traditional shapes.
