What is backsweep and upsweep in relation to Handlebars?

OK, so these aren't MTB bars, they are BMX, but this seems to be the best placxe to pose the question:

Question is what does upsweep and backsweep mean? I'm guessing these are angles and not feet and they have just used the worng symbol, but I want to compare these to what is currently on my kids bike and I'm not sure how to do this.
