Tyre width advice

I used to always ride on 2.1's front and rear but then a friend advised me to try a 2.35 up front. How should this change the ride, if at all?

    More grip, more squish and a little more weight.

    2.35 tyres will not give you more grip, they may give you more grip, but conditions have to be right.

    If your mate weighs 15 stone and you weigh 10 stone and he says that X tyres stick like you know what to the proverbial blanket, it may not be true with your bike and weight.

    How a tyre behaves is down to the terrain, size, pattern, pressure, compounds and the weight of the rider, you can also put in type of bike.

    Tyre advise is a very general, so if wanted something for mud, dry gravel etc, there is plenty of good advise out there, but from there on you have to suck-it and see.
