anyone out htere have their hands on a Mongoose?? The stats on the website seem really weird compared to bikes of other brands but same frame size, and i dont live near a dealer, but thinking mail ordering. If anyone could let me know the real (as opposed to quoted) standover height for a mongoose, frame size and model i will be eternally grateful, please

I have a 2006 Tyax in large, but it's at the far end of the shed.
They're pretty much the same sizing/geometry as a GT Avalanche, if that's easier to find.Northwind wrote: It's like I covered it in superglue and rode it through ebay.0 -

you may get a better response if you mention the model you are looking at.
as there are a few different ´gooses out there."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

One of my kids has a 2008 Mongoose Fireball. Its a jump bike so it only comes in one size. the seat tube slopes quite agressively, so not sure how you would measure stand over height, but the top of the seat tube is 26" off the ground at the saddle, 28" off the ground in front tof the saddle, and with the saddle all the way down the saddle itself is about 29" off the ground. Does that help any?You don't need eyes to see, you need vision0

The mongoose website is hopeless with measurement units the numbers are usually right but you do have to work out if they inch or metric it isn;t that hard. The 2009 millimetre measurements are actualy inches the 2010 range looks okay though.-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_

Why are MTB economics; spend twice as much as you intended, but only half as much as you wish you could afford? :roll:0 -

yeah totally, but thats about 150 miles away, so not something to do on the off chance something might fit.
Im looking at the Meteore, but as i am trying to calibrate the accuracy of the website, doesnt have to be that model that gets measured - just need someone kind enough to get a tape measure out on their bike stand over height and measure floor to top of cross bar where you stand over just in front of the sadddle - wouldbe much appreciated to save a wasted 300 mile round trip - anyone please???0 -

Meteor was last in the UK in 2008 as far as I know. just checked CSG (importers) latest stock sheet and it's not listed
Might be that you're looking at a US based website. As alternative, have a look at GT's entry level Zaskars, about the same price and spec and in stock with CSG in all sizes, which means a dealer can order you one if they don't have it in stock.0 -
Try giving dealer or manufacturer a call I am sure they will be able to confirm details required, if they cant I suggest you look at another make.So Far!0
