How's yours?

I counted cars passing me today on the basis that
they don't count if they're going the other way
they don't count if I'm on an off-road cycle lane
they don't count if I;m in a bus lane and they're not
they don't count if you've stopped to fix puncture/have fag/chat to friend/eat pie and chips etc
I can subtract one for ever car I pass that would be moving/going faster were it not for lights/congestion etc ie not just parked (none on this occasion)

total in 20.5 miles was 26 of which 9 were in the first 18 miles.

It was brutal down the King's Road last night, with road works and Chelsea playing (poorly) at home. Too many cars to count.

Even on a quiet morning I'd estimate at very least 100 cars.

Before I got to the subtraction part I was thinking loads, but when the traffic is backed up in town like today, I'd be well into minus figures.

What about passing cars that would be going faster were it not for the 30mph speed limit? :)

The only density I worry about is the density of the drivers and their attitiudes towards cyclists.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

    Nice one.

However I also worry about the density of the tarmac/car/bus and how it is slightly at odds with the density of my head/arm/leg. I hope that my density, and that of the vehicle driver does not former to come in contact as some sort of Mythbuster.

If you don't count the two police horses guarding Olly Murs then it was 1 (sic one) on the way home tonight but the driver did try very, very hard to knock me off.

Wait, cars passing me or cars I pass?

Take away cars you pass from cars that pass you.

I had a crack at this today, and I reckon I finished up at -31.

There were a couple of bits where I had to guess because I was filtering through 3 lanes of stationary traffic.

Blimey. I'm too busy trying not to get squashed to keep count. Traffic density: high.

A remarkably consistent 26 again today. of which
    5 in first 10 miles
    14 in first 18 miles

I guess to normalise it we should divide by miles, so
for me 26/20.5 = 1.27 motors per mile

I got up to 99 by about half way (11ish miles)

Down 50 odd 2 miles later, back up to 80 something a couple of miles after that.
Then freefall from kingstanding, down to zero by perry barr dog track then down to -30 somthing by the time I got into town. It was really quiet today though, on a normal day I would be nearer -100 if I'd have tried yesterday my head would have exploded going through 2 miles of stationary dual carriageway.
