Yet another tyre question
Just purchased a new bike replete with Vittoria slick tyres.
I'd previously read this article: http://www.britishcycling.org.uk/archive/features/2003/track/00_track_bikes.shtml on British Cycling, including this line:
My questions: Should I be rushing out to replace the tyres? Will roughing them with sandpaper suffice? Or should I simply ignore the above and ride the slicks?
I'll be riding predominantly at Calshot where I've noticed the hire bikes I've used have some degree of tread.
Thanks

.For Calshot (and other indoor tracks I expect, Tim Knight (a Calshot track coach) says that 'any file pattern type is generally OK, but slicks are a no-no'

That BC article is a bit old but still has a degree of validity.
If your Vittoria ‘slicks’ are Diamante Pro Lights then leave them on and you’ve nothing to worry about – these are probably the best clinchers available for indoor track use.
If your bike has another Vittoria tyre fitted, I’d suggest changing them for either Diamante Pro Lights, Veloflex Records (file type pattern) or Conti Super Sonics.I’m a sprinter – I warmed up yesterday.0 -
Eddy - Thanks for the advice0
