Hi
Im wanting to replace my shimano r500 chainset to a nice shiny new one! but what do i go for?
I would like to end up with campag but dont mind having fsa etc... I dont like the look of durace. All gearings etc are 10spd 105 at present so really only need to change the chainset untill other parts start wearing out!
Any ideas or suggestions?

Budget!
Well i wouldnt really wanna spend more than £200... but i dont mind having a 2008/2009 model to save money to get something better0 -
Campag won't work on a Shimano bike. Even if it will work in terms of engineering, it won't work in terms of style - should never ever happen!
I think that's why Campag invented Fulcrum - basically the same stuff but with different labels.0 -
Plenty of bargains around at that sort of price. Planet X have these:-

plus others.
Or how about this one from merlin:-

Have considered either of these for my Onix(similar spec to yours but an 07 model) but my priority spending wise is some wheels.Norfolk, who nicked all the hills?

i was thinking of fsa as they seemm to be kooler looking and better prices than shimano's top end stuff!
im waiting for the summer to come before i change wheels! might aswell ruin a cheap wheel set over the winter!0 -
I went with FSA K Force (compact) chainset from Planet-X. I paid 200, but now 150.
Look great, shift excellent. Can't really tell if they're better/quicker than my old Ultegra.0 -
Recommend you save your money and put it towards a later drivetrain upgrade or winter clothes. Those Shimano chainsets are really good, and have a much better reliability record than the suggested FSA jobs. If you want to save a bit of weight, buy some Stronglight CT2 chainrings.0
