Does anybody else find this really annoying ?

A little box pops up and you have to enter a further password to confirm your purchase - no problem with the principle - however the password must be have at least uppercase letters - and two numbers - making it hard to remember (ok if this was the only password - I had it wouldn't be a problem.

today - it locked out my card and took 45 minutes for the bozos at nationwide to reset my password. Seems to me idea is to make thing so unwieldy - that people will use other cards over the web.

the treat I had today is heading your way then. you can only bypass the password so many times - before it locks you out - you then get a phone number to call ..and guess what when you dial .......

its the wrong number ! - and you get passed all around ! - a right game I tell you

I wrote it down on a big piece of paper next to my Laptop with the rest of my passwords with an explanation of what each password is.
  • I've forgotten mine several times during the year!

But the scary thing is, from a security point of view (the whole point of the concept), it is too easy to change the password having just entered an incorrect one! :?

No it's not annoying, it's a lot safer. I would rather do this than get my card cloned or anything similar. A good thing ime. Just write down your password on a word file or similar and refer to it before making the purchase. Simples.

One of the first rules of security is not to write your password down. If people are storing them in word files on computers ataached to the internet - then you aren't much better of in terms of security ?

Someone STILL managed to use my card details to charge up a massive amount on my card - even with the extra security of Verified by Visa. Fortunately, they cover you for things like that!

I'm slightly autistic, so remembering stupid amounts of passwords of numbers doesn't to be difficult.

In my head I remember all of my sister's (and her husbands) passwords, my parents, and my own.

Well I can't remember mine without doing this. My files are not connected to the internet, so I can't see a danger there.

You just posted online. Which means you are connected to the internet. Which means that some bright spark out there could access your entire hard drive if they put a little effort into it.

It is POSSIBLE. Just not likely. But - this is what some viruses do - they give hackers access to ALL your files on your hard drive - via your internet connection.

Unless you posted this from a different computer. :)
