    Ta.

The setback is a necessary evil in my case... The clamp on the straight post was too far forward of the saddle clamping zone...

Why would I want the stem to point up? That looks far worse than a couple of spacers!

As for the spacers, it fits me perfect at the moment, I don't want to cut the steerer as I'm selling the frame.

Why would you flip the stem? Well it obviously makes the front end stiffer and lighter.

Although if you are selling the frame it's fair enough.

    OCP innit?!

White background, cranks level, valve stems aligned yadda yadda- flip the stem and remove all spacers even if you don't ride it like that!

    WTF?

The stem is on the correct way (as in -6 degrees rather than +6)...

Nor is being a short arse!

Well that's an old pic on the day it was built.

Pedals, saddle, computers, and spacers all changed now.

Surely for mere mortals without team support a couple of spacers are allowed to cater for different types of riding e.g. higher front end for long sportives, low front end for time trials etc?

At the risk of a ribbing, how do you get away without spacers? If I cut the fork on my Monday's Child so that it was just long enough for the stem and had no spacers I would have a drop from the saddle to the bars of over 15cm. Now while I like an agressive position, that is pushing it a bit too far!

Do you guys who wide with no spacers just ride big frames? How does it work?

I have shortish legs, long body, means I don't have much drop and can run long stems.

They are just short or have a tall head tube...

Cool. So I am not missing some clever trick then!

Just spend 30 mins trying to post a picture of my bike on this chuffing website. Can't figure it at all! Not bad for a bloke with an IT degree

Decided to go the pub and drink beer instead. Try again tomorrow!

Depends on size of the head tube/geometry/how flexible you are. It also helps if your bike is the right size I guess.

My scott addict sl needs no spacers, my winter dolan needs about an 1 1/2 inch to get a similar position due to having a tiny head tube.

Spacers on your summer bike = not cool. TRUE FACTS.

Spacers on your summer bike = at least a reasonable height of person. TRUE FACTS.

    If I was only 6'0 I wouldn't need spacers...
  • I thought you were insinuating I was a short arse

Although by comparison I still may be!

Using pictures of such an ugly bike is not going win you any arguments.

No spacers, and a flat stem is cool.
