I was thinking of getting a new helmet from the big man with the white beard
My daughter wants to know what I want so I was thinking of a decent head protector
I have been using a muddy fox one that I got in Argos for less than 20 quid and I have handled the dam expensive ones in the lbs but could not notice much difference

so any advice on a decent hat would be great and perhaps a link to them

thanks

Cathal

I've just bought a Uvex FP1. Can't really 'feel' that it's lighter than the £30 no-name thing I was previously using. Hope I never need to find out if it protects better. It was worth the cash though coz it looks MUCH cooler. :P

It would probably help to go to your LBS & see what they have - try on a few for size and head shape. Different manufacturers use different 'moulds' some more suited to 'rounder' heads, some more comfortable for 'oval' heads - try a few & see which works best for you.

I use a Giro Monza that ticks all the boxes for me (iro £50)

    As above.

I recently tried some on and found the Giro's really uncomfortable. The Met's are much better for my head.

Hard to recommend without knowing a budget, but the Met range pretty much has them covered....

Thanks guys I will go out to my LBS and take my daughter with me and try on a few different ones
I know she is getting me a set of crud road racers also as she had them written down on a piece of paper that was lying on the table

I just hope the wife happens to be in the shop also as there is a nice felt bike ready to go

Check out Catlike helmets, not many have heard of this brand but once you spot them for the time they're instantly recognisable from then on:
