Prepared to spend £500
To go on a Cervelo Soloist running Ultegra SL
Would rather factory - so I can read reviews/comments
Mainly for training and the odd triathlon

Whats my best option(s)?

    New or used?

Your weight isn't an issue so it comes down to whatever the best all-around wheel you can get for your money.

Some sturdy deep-ish section wheels that can stand everyday training would probably be best.

I spent about £600 on a set of Mavic Cosmic Carbone SL wheels last year off eBay. And used them for daily training (clincher model).

Also check out these guys for good deals on Aero wheels: http://www.wheelsmith.co.uk/wheelprices.htm

You could also try some AM Classic CR420s
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

Ask Steve at www.roadacecomponents.co.uk about a build with IRD Cadence Aero rims, sound like they are right up your street.

Blimey, thats quick! I've got to wait 3 weeks for my wheels from Derek, mind you I don't think I'll be needing them given the weather!

You going to be using the IRD aeros for all-purpose riding? I ask because i was looking at ordering from there, either the Ambrosio Excellight or IRD Aero rims, CX-Ray spokes and Powertap hubs.

Be good to hear your view on the Aero's when you get them, as i'm leaning towards them at the moment, but don't know if the rims would be durable enough for all the training/time trials/sportives. I hope they are, but otherwise i'll go with the safe option of the Excellights.

I'll keep you posted. I've ordered them for general purpose summer riding, I won't be racing on them. FYI - Aeros on Ambrosio 24/28 with CX Rays. Derek didn't seem to have a problem recommending them to me, I'm quite a heavy powerful rider, that's the reason we went 24/28

Total Cycling are doing Campagnolo Eurus for 530 (maybe last years's model?). I love mine, really stiff and have never required any maintenance.
