Apparently it's a different cable pull length on the new DA/Ultegra so the old stuff doesn't work with the new stuff (rear mech.might). This includes the brake calipers. If in doubt, ask at your local shop.M.Rushton0

6700 front chainrings are 1mm wider apart, so the front mech will move that distance to accomodate them when connected to 6700 shifters.
In reality, 6700 mech will work fine with your 105 shifters and 105 or Ultegra 6600 chainset, as your shifters will pull the correct amount of cable for your 105 chainrings, the front mech (and the rear for that matter) don`t "know" what they are connected to, they just move the right amount according to your shifters.
I use 6700 shifters and front mech on the older type 6600 Ultegra chainset (same diemnsions as your 105) and it still works fine, the extra 1mm difference in chainring spacing between the old and the new Ultegra chainset isn`t noticeable when you set up the mech to suit.Jens says "Shut up legs !! "
