Viner are quite expensive for what you get though! component wise ..........the scott Cr1 frame is much lighter???? im used to mtb remember and i still have the weight weenie bug
chip what is the shop called you mentioned before do they have a website i can have a browse at?0 -
If you're looking for Viner, check out Epic Cycles.
If I was gonna spend £3000, I'd go for something a little more individual than your options.
Find a frame, spec it up how you like it.
If you buy a bike, even at £3k, I guarantee there'll be something you don't like on it... :roll:Start with a budget, finish with a mortgage!0 -
i wouldn't go for any of those!regards,

Me neither...
I's get a CAAD9 with the funky SiSL chainset, Sram Red, some Extralight hubs on Ambrosio rims and some finishing kit that fitted the remainder of the budget...

What you get for your money is a handmade frame, built in Italy, to your measurements if you like. OK, you might not get the same component spec at the same price point, but the frame will be better. And I would always recommend to anyone to get the best frame they can afford - after all it is the heart of a bike.Expertly coached by http://www.vitessecyclecoaching.co.uk/

All the ones on your list are such obvious choices, Cannondale, Trek, Scott yawwwwwnn, none of which I would go for. Viner bikes are an excellent choice, as are Wilier, Argon 18, Look, plus others.
Spread your net further man, there are better out there for that kind of money.0 -

+1. First paragraph hit the nail on the head! Don't limit your choices so much. Personally, I've been lusting after an Argon in recent months, but don't have the luxury of £3k to play with.0 -

Thanks for the reply why not educate me and give me make and model numbers so i can have a look at them thanks
ok so ive enquired about viner and also argon 18
im pretty much impressed with intergrated seat post option on the viner bikes
It just seems that lugged carbon frames seems so 1990s or should i stand corrected?0 -
In an ideal world, you'd be able to test a selection when parting with that sort of cash, but that isn't always possible. Also, what do you plan to use it for? Finally, if it's your first "proper" race bike then a £3k bike isn't necessary. As mentioned above, invest in a good frame, you can always upgrade over time.
In the meantime, I love having a good search at my next "dream bike" so seeing as though I have nothing better to do, I'll find a few other options for you.0 -
I voted for the Trek as its the only one I've ridden a form of, but ultimately I went for a Felt as it just felt (get it) the best.
cheers,

If you find something you like, try find a local dealer, that can usually be done through the respective bikes website. I wouldn't pay £3k for a bike 'cause it looks nice in the picture. Also consider Pinarello and De Rosa (you can't go far wrong with an Idol).0 -

You may perceive lugged carbon frames to be old technology, but to many it's still the best construction method - the likes of a Colnago EPS, Look 595, Parlee, Time VXRS probably would make the top-10 list of best-handling bikes ever. The reason why many brands prefer a monocoque design is because it's cheaper, takes less time and requires less skill and so can be outsouced more easily. If it was my money, I'd have the Viner too - all the guys I know that have them really rate them.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

evans selling bmc slc01 pro machine with ultegra for £2800 (rrp £3800) 09 model
probably my choice but will probably upgrade to dura ace0 -
Its a little bit over 3k (£3299) but you'd have to consider the Boardman Pro Carbon Race Prepared.Cannondale Supersix / CAAD9 / Boardman 9.0 / Benotto 30000
-
Would anyone seriously contemplate dropping £3k on a bike and leaving the numbties in Halfords to do their stuff? I'd pay money for them to leave it alone!Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

No Looks or Times and the Orbea Orca is missing from your shortlist.0

+ 1 Orbea Orca - not ridden one , but looked at them when purchasing my bike earlier this year. Out of my price range - look a good bit of kit.
Pinarello must do a nice bike at £3k - I d be looking at the following manufacturers offerings:-
Orbea
Wilier
Pinarello
Colnago
Im pretty pleased with my kouta at half the stated budget, so would look at the higher end of their range.0 -
The two year warranty would stop me from buying another Wilier. To their credit they were good replacing the frame when my Izoard's paint faded but if I was looking at a Cento Uno or Imperiale I'd want more than 24 months on the frame.0

I fell in love with the Wilier Le Roi when I rode one in 2007 (I think, Ballan won Flanders?). Unfortunately, it was out of my price range at the time and when I came to buy a new road bike I've found they aren't building them anymore.0
