Hurt so good Susan Cadogan- Jimmy Somerville

He almost ruined that song for me as I loved and grew up with Cadogan's version plus most people at the time did not think about the lyrics ( where is that sick smiley ).

    When the cover is better?

Jealous Guy - John Lennon or Roxy Music?

A tough one but I think Roxy Music clinch it.

Some brilliant covers on this (well only the first cd to be honest).

All Along The Watchtower - Fratellis
Too Much Too Young - Kasabian
The Power Of Love (the Huey Lewis one) - Pigeon Detectives
  • sweet child of mine - Guns and Roses or Taken By Trees ?

    the latter for me

Pete Green* every time but both are good.

Yellow Taxi: Counting Crows or Joni Mitchell?

I would have to go for Cash and Nirvana, Not sure I can comment on the others

what about 99 Red Balloons - Nena or Goldfinger?
We're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

  • Personal Jesus - Depeche Mode or Johnny Cash

The same song but sung in such a completely different way that the sentiment or motive of the lyrics have a markedly different and somewhat poignant meaning compared to the already brilliant original.
Let's close our eyes and see what happens

very rarely I prefer covers to originals.... but.....

    futureheads better than kate bush

we can work it out, I prefer Stevie Wonders version, Ray Charles' version of Eleanor Rigby is great and the Earth wind and fire version Got to get you into my life is stellar, way better than the lumpy original by the beatles
