A mate at work has just told me he's got £500 on the Cycle to Work Scheme at Halfords.

(If he'd told me sooner I'd have talked him into a couple of hundred quid more and he'd probably have a Boardman but he didn't so here we are).

What's the best road bike Halfords will get you through the Cycle to Work Scheme ?

I know they can order some brands but nor sure which and I haven't looked into the £500 sector for a long long time.

Has to be £500 or less as you can't put any cash towards the amount you've already agreed.

Thanks

They can get pretty much any brand except for Bianchi and Focus. And if your mate finds a bike/make he especially wants, phone them directly, because they will normally allow to add your own money on to the purchase, just not officially.

I used the halfords scheme and took it to Leisure Lakes bikes in Bury. They accept them and I purchased a Specialized Allez for £500. It's been a great bike, which I recently took to Spain for 200 miles of sunny riding in November! :)
Check http://www.leisurelakesbikes.com/ for your nearest store.
You can add to it there as well, so if you budget is bigger, you can buy a better equipped bike.
