Chainset suggestions

I have to confess I'm after a lightweight chainset.

At the moment I have a Felt F4 2008 with an Ultegra SL 53/39 fitted.

I'm after a compact chainset that will run sweetly on my SRAM Red shifters, & SRAM Red mechs alongside my DA7900 11-25 cassette.

I have been eyeing up the DA7900 £299 inc BB, the SRAM Red £210 w/o BB and the Fulcrum RS Torq £270 inc BB.

I used the Fulcrum RS on my BMC Team Machine and that run along a full DA7800 groupset to excellent effect.

The DA7900 set is 725g, SRAM Red 760g and Fulcrum 699g but I'm not sure if these weights refer to standard double units or compacts.

I'm going for a Compact with 170mm arms,

Any suggestions?

Cheers

I run the Red and it's fine - well made, stiff and so on. I think the 7900 has the edge though, from the reports I've read. But then it does cost more, and the replacement rings are stupidly expensive which would be an issue for me.

It doesn't matter that you run SRAM groupset though. Any chainset will be fine.

The poshbikes one is just wayyyy too much money. lol

Still undecided...but I'm leaning toward the DA7900 and the Fulcrum TBH....so I think the SRAM is out of the equation.

The DA looks nice...shame thry don't do it in black....lol.
Fulcrum is a nice piece of kit, having owned one before.

Biti the bullet and went for the Fulcrum RS Chainset.
£269.99 for a 170mm compact at Merlin Cycles.
