Some advice please - goods not arrived.

Hi
I'm after some consumer advice please, or links to text that I may be able to quote should the need arise
I've bought some jewellery items for my wife, on line last Friday. I received an email on Monday to say the items had been posted, 1st Class. As of today they still haven't arrived.
Now normally I would leave things a while longer before starting to ask questions. However, I used this company last year and received the goods the next day. The shop is only 30 miles (approx) from me so perhaps I should have just drove over there any bought the items. But having used them before and the offer of free 1st Class postage I thought I'd save the 60 mile round trip (and costs involved).
So, my query is:
Is it unreasonable to expect the items to have been delivered (posted 1st Class 30 miles away) by now, and do I have any grounds for complaint. I'm guessing I'm going to have wait 30 days (which takes it past xmas ).
I'm just a little miffed as I have bought things yesterday and they have arrived (1st Class) from MUCH farther away.
Ah well, at worst I guess the wife will have to wait a while longer before getting her prezzie :?

Try this - http://whatconsumer.co.uk/delivery-and- ... -of-goods/
Failing that;
www.consumerdirect.gov.uk
http://www.oft.gov.uk/
www.tradingstandards.gov.uk
However, I'd phone the shop again in the first instance - let them know that their goods haven't arrived.

Give it some time man! Could be one of many reasons, the email is not the one posting the items just someone pressing a button, i'd give until Friday at lease, bet they turn up tomorrow thoughwinter beast: http://i497.photobucket.com/albums/rr34 ... uff016.jpg

Royal Mails delivery targets for first class are, Ideally next day but can take up to 5 working days. They dont count weekends as working days so in their world they have until tomorrows post before they are outside their forecast and as above 21 working days until it is late. Neither you or the company you bought it from can claim until the 30 day point.
Would the package fit through your letterbox, or did you have it sent to work? You wouldn't be the first person where the postie didn't have a card to leave when he couldn't deliver. It may be sat at your local sorting office.
Phone the company you bought it from. When we have packages go astray if they haven't arrived t the 10 day point we send replacementsNeil

FFS, yet again the postie has dropped off my parcel at a neighbours house and not dropped a card through my letter box. This has happened several times (leaving the package with a neighbour), the last time my neighbours went away for a week, and the postie never got the item signed for!
Is it too much to ask the postie to do his job correctly? Perhaps a strongly worded letter is in order
All's good now.
