Been up there a while back and thought it was pretty good, if your going from ambleside, then be prepared for a climb (obviously  ), and be warned that the terrace over Grasmere will be very busy with walkers, though higher up it should be pretty quiet.
Good ride there, gets the thumbs up from me.Now that we are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak and not to please ourselves. ROMANS 15:10 -

The Lake District has some of the best natural riding in Britain but it gets VERY busy. This time of year shouldn't be too bad though if you time it right.
Loughrigg Terrace is a cracking bit of terrain but do it from the top of Red Bank down to Rydal Water and get there as early as you can to avoid the Red Sock Militia. Try to work it into a loop round Skelwith Bridge, Iron Keld and Tilberthwaite if you can - if you'll PM me your e-mail address I'll send you some route maps0 -

That climb out of Grasmere on Red Bank is a tough one! Loughrigg Terrace is good fun, heading west from Red Bank. Be early, avoid the crowds.0

Lovely scenery up there. Last rode it when it was icy along the terrace in the shade I slid off stood up fell down stood up fell down and on and on cleats and ice dont mixFig rolls: proof that god loves cyclists and that she wants us to do another lap0

quite a good ride, done it more times than I remember, biggest challenge is the number of walkers. You find yourself pulling up all the time. Unless you are going during the week I would choose a different route, plenty in the lakes that you won't see a walker all day on.
My favourites are:
Kentmere over into troutbeck.
Parkermoor over into Nibthwait
Iron Keld into the langdales (you can link this into loughrig)
Any way if you want more ideas give us a ring.
cheers,
Neil0
