Am waiting, patiently!!!, for my Ltd Ed to arrive with Halfords and was hoping it would be in the next few days. However, was passing them on Monday and asked when they were expecting them in only to be told that head office were not expecting them until 17th Dec at the earliest and then, with Christmas coming, delivery to store will probably not be until after Christmas, but probably before New Year.

Anyone else waiting and been told any different?

Sorry, no idea what date the LE's are due in. I'm sure it will be worth the wait though.

Unfortunately my local Halfords told me they weren't able to order one until the first week in December and that I should call back then - only for me to find out via the website they were sold out by 30th November and that they had been 'mis-informed' - Gutted!
  • That's really bad news. It just goes to show the differentlevelsof servicebetween stores. Mine have been great, so far I hope it continues.
I'm just being impatient I guess but it'll be a nice Christmas present!

does that mean all 500 are sold. all of their stock problems have been the huge demand for the bikes. cant make em fast enough.
  • On the Halfords site it says that the small has sold out, but not on the other size frames. Have you sat on them for size? Why not try a medium and shorten the stem if you can manage with the frame size jpi?

Thanks for the advice Gregster. I did sit on a medium when I originally went for a look and it seemed just that bit too big all round really.

Like you say though, might be worth calling back in to see if I could shorten the stem and bring the seat forward?

Only reservation is that I had a Trek 1200 a couple of years back which was a 54cm and I always wished I could have run a little more seatpost for increased standover height. Too used to my MTB maybe?

  • Well, I got my XL Ltd Edt on the 3rd week in jan, bloody wait for c2w voucher!
  • Went in today (5th Dec) to use my letter of completion and they were in the process of putting one together. The white walled tyres look a bit strange. Probably change those.

That's interesting, will have to chase up Halfords direct, rather than rely on what the store guys say.

  • Just made the call and it's there!! Yeehaa!!! They're going to try and put it together today but had quite a big delivery, otherwise I'll be collecting it tomorrow. Working some later shifts this week, so weather depending I'll be out on it. Gotta go and take pedals and comp of my borrowed bike now. Fingers crossed for today!

  • Got it!! Yeah. Went and collected it about 2pm. Too dark to take it out properly. Want to see what I'm doing when cycling it for the first time, but got pedals on and took it around the block just to see how the set up was and all seems fine. Minor adjustment needed to front brake, and front mech rubbing on smallest chainring when on smallest rear cog, but again I'll sort that when I've got more time/daylight.
Will post a new thread with pics and initial thoughts in the next few days.
Thanks loxster, I may have been waiting unnecessarily long without your reply.

gregster the front mech is set up ok. the trim has moved to the large chainring the smaller one has no trim. it will rub on small skall you shouldnt be in that gear. if you adjust it will rub in 1st gear the other end and then you will be cursing halford setup. keep out of 12 & 13 cog (as recommended) and it will be perfect. i love my front mech its very crisp and never needs trimming. one nice thing to check is the reach adjusters on your gear levers set the same as the reach on your brake levers or they will feel slack.
the cam has 3 or 4 different settings i cant remember.

  • I've seen a few posts with a number of folk having had theirs arrive.....sounds like it should be worth the wait.

Has anyone had an XL yet?

I'm waiting for an XL and just called Halfords in Manchester who has told me the XLs are due in the country 2nd Jan then another week or two to clear customs so should have it mid Jan.
