No doubt about which 'side of the fence' Rupert sits on.
Guinness brought out a book (pre-Tour) called 'What a Ride'. It was a memoir of his 25 years being a reporter at the TdF.
By 2005, he isn't a big fan of LA being of the 'black list' due to sharing a media car (I think, off the top of my head) with Walsh.
Anyway, he must have written the whole thing before the second coming. An epilogue was appended to the back of it covering LA's return.
By the end of the chapter, you could see Rupert was smitten with LA again. To paraphrase Guinness - it was like the clock was turned back to 1993, a young Texan on the rise in pro cycling, who always had the time for you (I think LA spoke with 40 mins after he announced his comeback), how accessible he is, how he would answer all his questions etc.
I use to follow Rupert on Twitter until I read how he got to spend sometime with LA in Sept in the USA. His feeds read like a PR agent. I spoke reading them then.0
