I'm sure there's a cycling specific version available, but i've got a ski-ing skullcap that I use. It's windstopper with fleecy earflaps. Perfect when it's too wet for the wooly hat or too icy not to wear a helmet."In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

Ask a local Postman. Royal Mail do a nifty two colour underhat, which isn't too hot.0

I'm thinking of ordering one of these:

Buffs are excellent and can be reconfigued if you get too hot / cold en route... as happened to me this morning in fact!
I've got one of these - https://www.buffwear.co.uk/catalogue/product_info.php/products_id/367
The reflective strip is a nice addition.0 -
+1 for buffs
I'm a baldie, the buffs are great under helmets.
Thermal buff on really cold days are great too, the thinner fabric part means the top of your head doesnt get too hot and there's not too much bulk under the helmet but the fleece bit keeps your ears nice and toastie0 -
I have a nice Endura thermolite skullcap. Toasty. 8)
