I bought three of these from PBK, £2.90 each. What a difference they've made to my garage.
Took one hour-ish to clear garage (without putting anything outside in the rain!), fit hooks, then put bikes on wall.
I can actually see my garage floor, now

Bit dubious about hanging my bikes from their wheels... :?
Anyone know of any downsides to this?

Got two of those in the summer, they are the best things I have bought for ages. I hang my bikes from the rear wheels as I was a bit worried about the lateral strain on the headsets and forks, but as everyone else seems to hang them from the front it probably isn't a problem.

It's not clear from those pics how they work. Bit small...
I take it you screw into the brick and then hang 'em on the hook? Not suspend from the ceiling?
Or do they sit on the metal bit and hang under their own weight?

Ok, I'll try to explain... Bear with me....

    Screw plate to garage wall.
Place tyre into groove on plate and locate hook extension through the spokes.
Lower bike slowly, wheel rim will come into contact with hook.
Voila.... the bike is suspended by its wheel.

I noticed the same (similar) racks in Argos this afternoon.... £13.99

EDIT: More photo's, though I forgot to rotate them before uploading...

I can't imagine the lateral forces are that much worse than grabbing the brakes in a hurry or hitting a pot hole. Bikes are going to be ridden by heavy people so hanging them up will be no bother.
